Mentoring is transformational when done effectively.
That's why, in STEMAZING, we run a unique Mentor Training Programme to support and empower Mentors to maximise their impact with women in STEM mentees.
We believe Mentoring is a key part of the solution to create and sustain a more diverse and inclusive STEM workforce.
Becoming a Mentor helps you recognise the value you have to offer whilst giving you the opportunity to make a positive difference to someone else's life and see the world through another's eyes.
Becoming a Mentee opens your mind to your future potential and opens doors to your future opportunities.

Key info for mentors
Price
The Maximise Mentoring Impact training for Mentors is £1,795 + VAT (use this business case letter template to support your request to your organisation to fund your place if they are not a STEMAZING Partner).
Study mode
The programme is all online with on-demand training modules to be completed in March and April, plus monthly live online peer group coaching mentor circles from March - October.
Duration & Commitment
8-month programme running once a year, from March to October.
Commitment is 3-hours a month (expected total of 24 hours over 8 months)
Mentoring
After the first 2 months of training you'll do 6 months of online 1:1 mentoring with your matched mentee, with a minimum of 1 hour a month mentoring meeting time.
Ways to Join
If your company is a STEMAZING Partner, you can benefit from a free place. If not, you can ask your company to fund you, or fund yourself. You can also apply for a sponsored place, or a STEMAZING Scholarship place.

Our Mentor Training is run by STEMAZING Directors Alex Knight and Ann Hodgetts.
Alex brings a wealth of experience from her career in engineering mentoring women in STEM, in addition to a Mentoring & Coaching qualification from the CMI. Alex originally developed this programme specifically to help people of all genders improve their effectiveness as mentors for women in STEM.
Ann is a chartered engineer with over 20 years industry experience. She is also a qualified Gallup Strengths Coach, supporting mentors and mentees to discover and maximise their unique strengths throughout the mentoring programme.

Key info for mentees
Price
This programme is completely free for mentees that are selected. You just have to commit the time to make the most of the opportunity.
Study mode
The programme is expected to be all online via video calls (Zoom / Teams). You will have some training webinars online with the other mentees, and your mentoring meetings are expected to be online unless you and your matched mentor decide to meet in person.
Duration & Commitment
6-month programme running once a year, from May to October.
The commitment from you is a minimum of 3-hours a month. A minimum of 1 hour mentoring time with your mentor, plus an additional 2 hours for the mentee training webinars and time for you to progress the actions you agree with your mentor each month.
Mentoring
We will carefully match you with an industry mentor. Then you will participate in 6 months of online 1:1 mentoring with your matched mentor.

Apply online before the deadline of 17th January. Make sure you tell us why you want a mentor at this stage in your professional journey and how you will show commitment to the programme.
