Simple #STEM at home. This was hilarious!! Creating BristleBots 🤩! Cut the end off an old toothbrush, stick on a micro vibration motor (less than £2 on eBay) and cell battery. Decorate to make your personal bristlebot character! Connect blue/black wire to negative and red wire to positive on battery. When you make the circuit watch your bristlebot go wild! So funny to play around with 😆Disconnect one of the wires when you’ve finished to save the battery.

Simple #STEM at home. Testing different density liquids and solids! We added maple syrup, fabric softener, blue food coloured water and cooking oil into a glass carefully one at a time. Then find various small things to test which density layer they float at to see which solids and liquids are more or less dense. More dense things go lower down the layers. Simple but fun! See how many layers of different density liquid you can make!

Simple #STEM at home - magic spoon! Rub a plastic spoon with a dry dishcloth to generate static charge and watch it attract small things like pepper/ herbs as if by magic!

Simple #STEM at home. BUBBLE BOAT! Make a small hole in the bottom of a bottle for the straw and seal it with glue. Add a little vinegar then add the baking soda carefully keeping it away from the vinegar initially. Then put the lid back on the bottle, quickly shake, place in water and watch it go! The chemical reaction produces CO2 bubbles which can only escape out the straw and propels the bottle boat forward 🥳

Simple #STEM at home. Rocket racers! Just need some string, a straw, a balloon and some tape. Thread the straw onto the string, secure the string at both ends and stick the top of the balloon to the straw. Then inflate and let race! The air rushing out the back pushes the balloon forward, just like a rocket engine. Newton’s 3rd law of motion in action! 🤩 Try two side by side for a race!
