2027 British Science Week Online Sessions with STEMAZING
Aimed at 7 - 11 year olds:
'Motion Makers'
Join us during British Science Week (5th–14th March) and take part in a ‘Motion Makers’ session delivered by one of our STEMAZING role models.

We will be exploring forces in action, investigating how pushes, pulls, gravity and friction affect movement. Through a series of interactive challenges, children will discover how forces help objects move and change direction.
Working step-by-step alongside our STEMAZING role model, pupils will create their own climbing toy using simple materials to build a moving model while exploring the science behind how it works.

After completing their toy, the children will be set a creative challenge to design and make their own moving toy, applying what they've learned and showcasing their creativity and problem-solving skills.
​
To finish, we will explore some of the amazing STEM careers linked to forces, motion and engineering, helping children see how creativity and scientific thinking are used to solve real-world problems every day.

Equipment needed in school (per pupil):

1 printed template on card (ideally) or paper (emailed)

1/2 piece of paper

1 piece of paper of card (ideally)

2 paper or plastic straws

sellotape or masking tape

colouring pencils

2x 1m string

4 beads ( like those used for making a bracelet) ​

Every child who takes part will get a completion certificate to take home (electronic version wil be emailed to teachers)

During British Science Week 2026, we delivered our ‘Wonderful Water’ session as part of the national theme of Curiosity.​Our STEMAZING role model guided children through an exploration of water, encouraging them to be curious about why it is so important and how it supports life on our planet. Pupils took part in two exciting hands‑on experiments investigating the properties of water, asking questions, making predictions, and discovering new ideas through enquiry.​We ended the session with a wow‑factor demonstration that sparked even more curiosity and left the children amazed.​
